My Take On Farmgirl Fashion~ Dare To Be Different

From as long as I can remember I always felt a little different. I am the artsy daydreamer, perhaps a little flighty at times and very much an introvert, I have always been the quiet, shy one, the quirky girl who felt like she never fit into a mold or group. From my younger years I liked to dress differently than everyone else, I wasn't one to follow the mainstream fads and fashions for the most part. In high school I carried a painted tool box to school as a purse. Yes, very different and no one had one but me! I still have that side to me...I like to dress a little different that your average person. I just like having my own individual style that isn't quite like everyone else...You even see that in my home. I do however dress for comfort...I am not one that has to buy name brands or wear fancy jewelry etc.... I am cool with buying from the clearance racks or thrift stores...Then I am able to mix and match together what I feel comfortable in...Still giving me a little pizzazz and feeling pretty for my dear husband. The main staples I keep are assorted jeans, black pants and a couple leggings, plaids, gingham, floral, lace tops knit tops, cardies and graphic t-shirts. I love slip on and go shoes in colors or prints, Mary Jane's are a must and a good pair of sneakers.

I have an array of jeans in different shades of blue and styles down to my favorite boyfriend style jeans with rips. I can wear some of the jeans straight legged or folded up, mixing up the shoes to coordinate with the tops. I layer plaid with floral & lace scarves...Or plaid with a graphic tee underneath. I layer lace on lace, plaid or printed button ups with lace tops. Or lace tops with jean button up shirt or cardies. And yes I have been known to wear vintage smock aprons out and about. I'm also the crazy lady walking around with a rubber chicken purse, which has been a hit and great conversation starters with people in town.

Nothing fancy but I like it. I call it my farmgirl wear.
Dare to be different and be comfortable in your skin!

Sojourning

One more week in this house. Still a bit saddened that we have to leave the little place we called home for the last year, but I am reminded by the word...Currently we are sojourners on earth, we do not belong to this world and Christ will deliver us from this present age. We are children of God, heirs of Christ. Therefore, the sufferings of this present earth are not worthy to be compared with the future glory in our heavenly home. There will come a time when we should forget the things in this earthly life. This is comforting to my soul. This earthly home is only temporary. Why do we get so attached to it? I guess it is because, humanly, that is all we know...It brings a sort of comfort knowing you are together with loved ones under one roof. Moving around is not easy for most. I have prayed hard for God to open my eyes to the fact I am a sojourner here. To trust Him in the moves we make while we are here and to know these are but temporary homes, and to be content with all that comes my way. I have prayed that He would take those anxieties away from me. I truly believe that the last few months have been an eye opener and revealed to me this home here on earth is but a fragment of what is to come. He has revealed to me, to make the best of this life with all opportunities and situations He sets before us. I feel more at peace knowing this truth.

Valentines Day 2016

Our Valentines Day was simple. My sweet guy took me to The Barn to look at antiques, we had lunch and exchanged Valentine cards.
We sent our son a card and package and gave our daughter cards and flowers.
 Simple + Sweet.

My sweet Mr. Darling loves his coffee....So I got him something different to try out...And he enjoyed every drop. We were meant to bean!!!!

Mr. Darling had flowers delivered to the door...
What a surprise when the doorbell rang and opening the door to a precious bouquet. I'm so happy we don't expect fancy, expensive Valentines stuff or dates. Valentines can be so over rated! lol....Hope y'all had a nice day with your loved ones. Happy Valentines day to you!

The Barn At Hoey Ranch

My sweetheart took me out for a little Valentine date to visit The Barn At Hoey Ranch just 10 minutes from where we live. It is a beautiful large barn owned by 5th generation Jim and Debbie Hoey. The barn was built in the 1850's. Originally the family had a cattle ranch and grew grapes and prunes. Ranch hands and horses lived on the land as well. Later in the 40's they grew grapes, prunes and pear orchards. Now the barn is a well~known antique shop & Barntiquities. It was truly a dream come true...And The owners were so awesome. I love love love Debbie! She is such a sweetheart!

It was fun going through all the chippy, rusty goodness with my better half! I love how he gets me and knows what I love... If you are ever in Gilroy California go see The Barn and meet Debbie!!!

of rust and lichen and morning dew,
of hardy structures that have sheltered you.

amid hills and grass with gentle breeze,
these are the things of memories.
