Sugar Sacks~ As Sweet As Sugar

My Step~Mother gave me a few old sugar sacks a couple years back.
I am finally putting them to good use, creating colorful bags that are as sweet as sugar.

I will have three sugar bags and two flour bags ready by the end of the week. I already have a couple ladies from Instagram interested in the first two bags...So if there is anyone interested in one, let me know. I will also be making some others with Dresden Designs as well.

Come on back to see them finished!
See y'all soon!

I'm On A Roll

I accomplished quite a bit of sewing over the weekend which I am happy about...I made two zipper pouches, two coin purses and this cheery flour sack/feedsack purse.

I just need to finish up adding the hardware and the strap...
I am going to try to finish up more purses and pouches this coming week. I have really missed creating and sewing...I think I have collected enough vintage fabrics to last me a while...And yes for y'all who are wondering if I am going to be selling!!! I will be selling soon!
So be on the look out!!! I will keep you posted as well as give sneak peeks!

Feedsack Farmgirls & Farmers Too!

(My Gramma Charlotte on The Dairy Farm in Missouri)

I love feedsack fabrics from the 1930's and 1940's...Originally cotton feedsacks were used for flour and sugar etc... By the time the Great Depression hit...Mother's were sewing dresses for their girls from them. Once the manufacturers saw they were making dresses out of the fabric, they stepped up and began printing the fabrics with colorful patterns! As the Great Depression gave way to World War II, the feedsack fabrics were still being used but not only by the impoverished, but well to do women as well. The manufacturers even started creative competitions with each other producing many different patterns that would appeal not only to women but for men, and children as well. The sweet colorful prints together make a medley of eye musing creations.

I have always been drawn to the beauty of these simple cotton designs with all their colorful glory...It inspired me to create these fun photos using colorful feedacks in the images. I will be creating these images into my new Feedsack Farmgirl line...Coming soon!

Can't wait to get it all out of my head and made into
 the creations I have envisioned!

It's A Good Day To Have Good Day

My daughter and I had a fun outing together. We haven't gone thrifting and antiquing together in a long time. It was so fun going through all the goodies and finding a few treasures. We were walking around this big antique shop and saw this beautiful painting of a young lady which eerily looked like my daughter, or is it that my daughter looked very much like the painting. It was a little pricy so we left it behind, but sure would love to own her. My girl found herself a couple pairs of shoes and a vintage train case while thrifting.....She felt like she scored!

I loved truding through the outside of this antique shop..All the rusty, chippy goodness. I was all excited and gave me inspiration for planning out our garden this Spring.

I brough home a few treasures myself...Like this happy bright colored bowl, a red cross stitched floral cover for my sewing machine, a few Grandmother's Garden quilt pieces for future crafts and the cutest apron with happy faces and bright happy colors.

It was the perfect day along with the high 60 degree Spring like weather,
shopping with my favorite girl...So much fun...We need to do it more often!
