Momma & Poppa Robin

Remember several posts back we had a Momma Robin getting her nest ready then laid her precious eggs in it? Well they hatched last week. We have been watching them from the window as not to scare momma into thinking we are trying to harm her babes. It appears that Momma & Poppa both are tending to their babies needs by getting grub many times throughout the day. Momma & Poppa have also been seen both sitting upon the nest at the same time. I didn't realize that daddy Robin's shared responsibilities. It has been fun to watch.

We check on them periodically and even worry about them. It has been pretty crazy around here as far as the weather goes..One day it's sunny, the next it's raining. Then two huge storms came through with wind, thunder, lighting and hail. All the while these loving parents sat on their nest getting hit by the wind, rain and chill. I am so proud of them for their diligence. God really shows His love for even His smallest creations. It's been such a treat to witness right outside our window, I can't get the best of pictures, but glad I captured what I did!

Soon their babies will leave the nest and hopefully Momma & Poppa will stick around and build again here. I think Robin's usually have about three or four nest fulls throughout the season. They picked a perfect spot to set up for sure, it has kept them all pretty safe under the eaves of the porch. 

Chicken Scratch~ Birthday Blessings

I celebrated my 45th candle with a couple sweet gal pals this week. They took me out for lunch, then took a little walk over to a coffee shop and had chai tea and a brownie. It was a lovely few hours spent with them downtown. Later my hubby and daughter surprised me with cards, jelly beans, flowers and a cute red truck garden stake, and an awesome dinner at The Texas Roadhouse where we had melt in your mouth bbq baby back ribs, mashed poes and sweet corn...Hmmm Hmmm. It was a great birthday this year! Along with many wishes via online, texts, emails and calls...I felt very loved!

The Lord has blessed me beyond imagination and expectations. 

Praise Him from whom all blessings flow!

Fire & Light Productions: Oliver Twist~ 100 Dresses & Anne Of Green Gables

I was blessed to be asked once again to take pictures of the kids in my daughters acting troupe. We have three plays coming up next week. My daughter will be in Oliver Twist playing a workhouse boy and Mrs. Bedwin. Her friends are in Anne of Green Gables and the younger kids are doing 100 Dresses. These are all going to be fantastic plays! Thought I would share with you the pictures!

Chicken Scratch~ The Homestead Is Almost Up And Running!

We have made a lot of progress our first month here in Indiana! Our homestead is almost up and running and functioning. We have been doing a lot of deep cleaning and painting, setting up the necessities and getting ready for more order. I managed to go through our belongings and set aside things we don't need for re sale or donation. I have found a place for almost everything. Just working on a few lingering items and trying to find room. 

Our little farm bedroom is all set up, painted and decorated with treasured photos of our grandparents. The room is very tiny but perfect really. 

We simply need a place to lie our head down at night.

The kitchen is also finally up and running!!!! We had to purchase a new stove/oven...Since the one left in the house was burned to a crisp inside the oven. Not sure but it didn't look safe nor did it look hygienic to even bake in. We chose the matching stove to our refrigerator. Can't wait to make many cherished suppers and desserts in this little kitchen for family and friends..And to preserve good wholesome food for my little family. 

Speaking of preserving food. I was able to preserve some veggies that were given to us. I canned Green beans, zucchini, spicy zucchini salsa, sweet dill pickles, and basil peach jam. I will also be making some relish, pickled zucchini and squash, and zucchini salsa verde. 

So happy we will have a few goodies for Winter...But I am so looking forward to our very own garden on our homestead next Spring. We have plans for it just beyond the clothesline.
