Feedsack

I'm a sucker for the colorful fabrics of yesteryear...Especially when it comes to feedsack prints and bright happy prints on linens. These beauties will be found in upcoming bags/purses. I love the Dresden's with different prints...So playful! Can't wait to get it all out of my head!

Chicken Scratch~ Got A Little Behind

Catching up to life around the ole' homestead. Almost Spring cleaning, sewing, sorting, organizing etc... Our washer broke so have had to take our clothes to a friends house for the past two weeks. Thankfully we could do it there while we wait for the new washer to be delivered this week. The things we may take for granted! I love having a washer and dryer  and so thankful we don't have to tote everything to a laundry mat. We are also picking up our garden gate and the lumber for our garden boxes. We have already passed one week this March already and I'm feeling like we are so behind. Our church family had five deaths the past couple weeks, we've been driving back and forth to the city for classes and theater, bible study and other meetings, plus a baby shower this weekend.

Yet, I did manage to sew up the other two sugar bag totes...I just need to add the shoulder straps...
Then they will be ready to sell. I am also sewing up another Kelly Flour bag and more designs to come..We are also planning/ prepping for The Farmers Market in town this coming this May. My daughter decided she wanted to sell her baked goods, so we are going to plan on her getting her own space. She will be baking with organic and local farm goods such as eggs, butter, milk and honey. She plans to use lavender, lemons and honey in her goodies. We've already started taste testing...She is bringing some goods to her theater group for taste testing & feedback from friends as well. Now to decide on her lil shop name. We thought this would be fun for the both of us to do the Farmer's Market together...Can't wait to do this with her! Plus hoping I can find a crafty venue this Summer to sell my Farmgirl Freckles goods. Well, I best be going, I have stuff to do...LOL

Farmgirl Charm

My Thrifting finds have been good lately! I found these beautiful colorful bowels with flowers and fruit. These are so lovely and perfect for a colorful farmhouse. I will probably hold on to these and resell down the line. Yet, I am very tempted to keep the green one with flowers!

I also found this sweet pair of salt and pepper shakers. I am smitten with them...The cool thing is they were on sale and I ended up paying a whopping 50 cents!!!

I found some fabrics, little linen aprons and funky colorful quilts. I will be using the fabrics in upcoming goodies and hold on to the quilts for resale as well. My dream is to be a part of a vintage show or something of the sort. I have been collected things for the past several years for that purpose. It just takes time....Plus need to find a good venue.

Be on the lookout for more goodies coming out of my studio...I am a bit behind due to several deaths in our church family this last week. But hopefully will be back on track this coming week ahead!

Teatime Tuesday~ Bringing Back The Lost Art Of Letter Writing

Hey Ya'll,  It's Teatime Tuesday!!!
A little series where I share tea, tea cups, and more....
Today I made a nice hot cup of Haskap Berry Pie Tea from St. Fiacre's Farm.
I met her through Instagram and did a barter with her....The tea is amazing! If you are a tea lover as I am and interested in buying some tea for yourself  or as a gift please do visit.
Click link above to take you to their Farm Store!

Recently I was blessed to meet a lovely lady via interwebs who just so happens to live in my old home state of Washington. She reached out and we moth decided we should become pen pals. That's right! Not just emailing back and forth but by snail mail. Sending letters and cards etc....

Penning a letter onto paper is truly a lost art in this computer age where email, texting, Facebooking, and Tweeting has taken over our culture. Surely some people still write letters on paper or note cards, But, it is almost a dying art. It doesn't have to be extinct however. The Greeting Card Companies are still in business, Which is nice. There's just nothing like getting a handwritten letter or card by a loved one or a friend through the post. And in return they would love a letter in return.

I am thrilled to have a pen pal now..I have been working on my letter to her and hoping to get it in the post soon...In the recent year I have been collecting note cards and greeting cards to keep on hand to write out to people in my life. I am not always great at getting them out...But decided now is the time to start writing more and sending a hello to those close to me. I have also vowed to be better at sending out a birthday greeting to family and friends. Just making a special effort will bring a smile to those I love and they will know that I think of them often & love them dearly.

Life can get crazy busy sometimes. It may seem easier ( well it actually is) to just send a message through your phone or computer. I just want to encourage you to send a letter to someone special once in a while. It's the thoughtfulness that counts and makes people feel good that you thought of them and that you took that extra time to actually hand write it, which is priceless!!!
Wanna make something even more special to send through the post? I went on to Shutterfly and designed my own note cards (shown above)...You can put any picture on a card...Now that's sweet!

I hope this will inspire you to bring back the lost art of letter writing!
Have a happy Tuesday ya'll!!!! See you soon!

Chicken Scratch~ Settling In

We have been in our new home for about 3 weeks now. We had to wait a week to even unpack the truck due to storms, so technically we have been unpacking for the last two weeks. I have also been doing a lot of deep cleaning and painting to freshen up the tired little house.
Our new home is from 1900. There is still some original charm as well as additions which took place between the 70's and 80's. The kitchen is dated and the paint is long
over due to be freshened up and brightened.

The first thing I had to change was the kitchen. I painted all the cabinets and walls...Took off a couple cabinets to open things up, hence the small space....Boy what a difference paint makes. It brightened up the tiny kitchen instantly. We had moved our own fridge in to replace the old dated beige fridge...and will have to replace the stove/oven with a new one. The old stove is burned up inside and pretty much worthless to cook or bake in. A new stove will brighten up the kitchen even more, so can't wait to get it in.

I freshened up the kitchen wall and added my farmhouse touches to it...It screams happy! We also spent a long two days painting the darker wood bead board and dingy yellow walls...Spruced them up with bright white and retro teal. It doesn't even look like the same space..It looks huge and so bright! Hoping to get better pictures soon and perhaps give y'all a tour of the whole house when we're done with it. For now I just snapped quick pictures with my phone. Sorry!!!

We are slowly getting the living room cozy and livable as well. Hanging pictures and finishing touches still left. We are loving it...The family room is huge!!! Plenty of space for gatherings!

Come on back ya hear!!! Will share more as we go...
