Gramma's Vintage Rhubarb Custard Pie

Ingredients

• Pastry for nine inch double crust (or single, if preferred)
• 1 cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (cane sugar preferred)
• 3 tablespoons flour, divided (may substitute gluten free flour blend)
• 2 eggs, beaten
• 2-3 cups diced fresh rhubarb
• Milk for brushing pie crust

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees...Line 9 inch pie plate with the bottom crust.

Combine 1 cup of sugar with 2 tablespoons of flour. Mix in eggs and rhubarb. Sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of flour into the bottom of the crust. Pour rhubarb filling into the bottom crust.

Roll out top crust. Cut vent holes or weave into lattice. Apply to top of pie. Crimp edges to seal.brush milk on top of crust then sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar over the crust.

Bake 350° F and bake about 40-45 minutes or until the custard is set. Cool before serving. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.

I love most of the Pioneer Woman dishes....Especially the floral in red, white, yellow, green and blues. It is so cheery and brightens up my kitchen! I love how it mixes well with my other dishes and kitschy vintage goodies. You can mix match all the bowls and it will still go together. Yummy!

It's Tea Time

Some people have coffee...Not me! I am a tea drinker. I have a cup of tea almost every morning. This morning was the perfect sort of morning to have a cup of tea since it has been a bit chilly the past several days. The house was cold this morning. A nice cup of hot tea to warm the bones was perfect. 

I have been using my new Pioneer Woman sugar bowl too! A spoonful of sugar and a bit of cream to a cup of tea is so yummy! I brought out my vintage floral tea cup to go along with the sweet floral Pioneer Woman pieces. A touch of vintage to these new pieces make a a sweet medley.

Butter Makes Everything Better

Today is Pioneer Woman Wednesday on Instagram, where you share your pioneer woman pieces in a vignette, and to show how you use or style those pieces. This is the picture I shared today of my newest floral Pioneer Woman Bowl paired with a vintage floral plate and vintage cow. 

The flower beds are blooming around here. Practically overnight these bleeding hearts and tulips appeared. Such a happy surprise to see these growing in our beds. And so colorful too! 

Makes me so happy!!!
