Uncle Herb

August 17, 2017 My beloved favorite Uncle passed away. He suffered a while yet went peacefully in the hospital. Lord willing He took my Uncle to be with Him in Heaven. I have fond memories of my Uncle throughout my life. He was a very loving, soft spoken man with a fun sense of humor, wit and talent. He loved the sea and sailing. He made beautiful things from wood.
I am going to miss this man! He was a delightful human being. I went through old family photos and wanted to share...He was the oldest of three...
My aunt Barb is the middle child and my daddy is the baby.

What a good looking family back in the day. They dressed so well too!

I had the pleasure of talking to him just before we moved....Though he was having health issues, his death was sudden. My heart is breaking. My daughter and I are flying out to Washington this week to be with family and attend his funeral on Friday. Please pray for my family and our travels!

Chicken Scratch~ Birthday Blessings

I celebrated my 45th candle with a couple sweet gal pals this week. They took me out for lunch, then took a little walk over to a coffee shop and had chai tea and a brownie. It was a lovely few hours spent with them downtown. Later my hubby and daughter surprised me with cards, jelly beans, flowers and a cute red truck garden stake, and an awesome dinner at The Texas Roadhouse where we had melt in your mouth bbq baby back ribs, mashed poes and sweet corn...Hmmm Hmmm. It was a great birthday this year! Along with many wishes via online, texts, emails and calls...I felt very loved!

The Lord has blessed me beyond imagination and expectations.
Praise Him from whom all blessings flow!

Chicken Scratch~Chicken Love

As many of y'all know I love chickens. I couldn't resist this cute metal chicken pail from Target...Oh my is it cute! And a nice size to boot! I will probably use it in my studio
to hold fun doo dads and what not's.

If it is cute and has a chicken on it, I may be tempted to buy or will buy it...I found the cute smock above for a few bucks and the cute vintage linen towel below the smock photo for a few bucks as well...This piece will probably be making its way into a purse...Which I will also use one of these sweet print feed sacks along with it.

I have lot's of sewing ahead of me!
Keep your eyes peeled!!!

Bisque It Pottery Studio

Last week we had a girls day out at Bisque It Pottery Studio. It was fun getting together with the girls and painting for a few hours. My daughter did a mug, our friends made a little carrier and a yarn bowl and I made a chicken feeder candy container.

They will be fired and ready to pick up next week...
Can't wait to see them in vibrant colors. We will definitely go again!

Chicken Scratch~ Country Mouse Goes To The City

My girl has been making many friends here in Indiana...It's really beginning to feel like home here. It's been such a blessing...She has been going out on girl dates with her friends to the city (Fort Wayne), shopping at the malls, getting coffee, seeing plays, going to the movies, getting lunches, trying out new restaurants like The Hoppy Gnome and The Yummi Bunni for dessert. Climbing flights of stairs to reach the top of old buildings and taking pictures of each other. She is having the greatest adventures. I'm so happy she is fitting in here. It blesses this Momma's heart!
