Marshmallow Bubble Bath

Our little Elf was found singing Christmas jingles soaking in a Pyrex dish full of marshmallows and eating them... And guess who had to clean up after him? yeah...me!
It's getting a little out of hand over here!

Christmas Card 2015

Our Christmas cards are printed up and mailed out to family and friends. I love sending out Christmas cheer every year...Even if it is just a few pictures on a card with a Christmas letter of our goings on, while letting our loved ones know we are
thinking and praying for them even into the New Year.

Sending out a card and yearly letter is allows us to catch up and share with friends and family afar who may be far away. What a blessing to reconnect with loved ones through this little gift.

Our mischievous little elf was caught red handed in the cookie jar. We let him get away with it this time...But locked up the pantry before he ate every cookie in sight. Hope y'all are having a wonderful Christmas season prepping for family time on such a joyous occasion, celebrating the birth of our precious Savior Jesus Christ!

Chestnuts... I Mean Marshmallows Roasting On An Open Candle Flame

Chestnuts  Marshmallows roasting on an open fire  candle flame.
Today Elwyn Elf was caught red handed with stick in hand roasting marshmallows over our candle. Now I'm going to have to hide the matches before he burns down the Christmas tree or something. Just look at that smile on his face... Gotta watch out for this one all right!

Our Christmas Kitchen & Elwyn The Mischievous Christmas Elf

I forgot I told y'all I would share Christmas in my kitchen last week. So here it is. Our great room is the kitchen, dining and living room in one space. It isn't a huge kitchen to share so I snapped a handful of shots for you to see. I put together this adorable centerpiece for the dining table today. I used what I had on hand and cut some greenery that was in our back yard.

I started with a large enamel bowl on the bottom and place a small cake stand inside and put a enamel spring form cake pan on top of the stand. Then I placed a smaller green enamel cake/jello mold on top of the cake form pan. Inside the top smaller mold pan I placed a glass jar in. Then I filled each tier with fresh greenery from outside, vintage glass ornaments, and
some vintage ornaments/bottle brush trees along with my lil green elf.

I actually decorated pretty sparse this year due to too much going on in our life at the moment. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible, yet still festive for my family to enjoy.

Beware of what you are about to see!
Our spry little Elf, Elwyn is back this year and already started wreaking havoc....

Yes he did! He is being quite naughty...leaving not so nice presents. Come back every day before Christmas and see what tricks he has up his sleeves.
This is going to be quite interesting to say the least.

Christmas In The Making

Christmas is in the making. It is going to be a very small Christmas for us with a tight budget...We are just doing Christmas for the kids this year...Mr. Darling and I  aren't even getting each other gifts this year. But that is okay. I don't need anything! We decked the halls got a ham for Christmas day...Just a couple things are left to finish up on the elves worktable...Then we are ready to go.

I shipped this sweet package of wrapped goodies to our son and his girlfriend...
Hope they enjoy their little Christmas together. We received a sweet package of homemade cookies from our neighbor this week too! How thoughtful! And lastly I made some homemade hot cocoa...and let me tell you, it is the best! Well 9 more days till the big day...
Hope y'all are enjoying this season so far.

Christmas Winter Ball

My beautiful freckled girl went to her Christmas Winter Ball with her friends tonight. She wore a lovely black gown with silver sequins and jewels. She looked gorgeous!

She had a great time with friends, dancing the night away. It was a fun evening with ballroom dancing, a delicious dinner then some boogie down time later in the evening.

A night to remember!

Creative Gift Wrapping For The Crafty Person

Who loves gifts? I would think everyone likes to give or receive a gift. You can get creative with your gift wrapping which makes the gift your giving unique & special too! Just a little thinking outside the box, a little inspiration and creativity and your package will be beautiful!

I love old tins, baskets, jars, paper sacks, and ordinary containers for gift giving. Fill a vintage tin with cookies and sweets, or crafty goodness and wrap the tin with twine/baking twine, an ornament or bell, paper doilies, ribbons etc... Here I used an old tin and filled with with crafty stuff and wrapped it with the twines, paper doily, a bit of sewing measuring tape and old gingham ribbon.

I used an old pattern directions insert and wrapped this gift with it and red twine, a bit of sewing measuring tape, white jingle bell and small doll dress on a hanger. You can use newspaper, brown paper for wrapping boxes, plain white wrapping paper or fill paper sacks or gift bags with old pattern tissue. I have used yarn for wrapping, homemade tags using
old Christmas cards or ornaments to decorate the package.

Look at my last two posts for thoughtful gift giving ideas for a baker or seamstress. See how I used an old sewing basket and a large mixing bowl for packaging my gifts.

Hope you find inspiration! Happy wrapping!!!
